It’s normal for head feels itchy, heavy, tight, and tender during the first three days.
Just be gentle with your scalp.
We recommend not washing your hair within the first 48 hours to allow time for you to adjust.

It takes about 1-week for your scalp to full adjust to this new feeling.

Separate your bonds daily by gently running your fingers across your scalp.

Use a flexible bristle brush (our favourite is the Tangle Teezer brush) to brush your hair at least twice a day

The fewer times you wash your hair during the week, the longer the extensions will last.

Aim for sulfate and oil-free shampoo.

It’s ideal to wash 1-3 times per week with extensions.

(Bonus - All Davines Shampoos are sulfate-free. We recommend the ‘Melu Shampoo and Conditioner’, and our ‘This is a Dry Shampoo’ for those in-between wash days.)

If you’re finding difficult to shampoo your scalp, shampoo and rinse your hair in three sections:
At the nape, temples, and top

1. Starting at the nape, clip your hair up and apply a small amount of shampoo to the area, gently working it onto your scalp using side-to-side motions with the pads of your fingers.

2. Gently lather through to the lengths of extensions.

3. Rinse thoroughly before bringing down the next sections and repeating the same process for the temple area and the top.

Don’t forget to condition your extensions!

Our general rule is to apply conditioner from shoulder and below and use a wide-tooth comb to gently comb through the hair.

Let it sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing out the conditioner.

(If conditioner is applied near the bonds, it breaks down the bonds and causes buildup. This results in the extensions falling out faster as they have been lubricated by the conditioner.)

Apply a detangling spray or leave-in conditioner (Davines ‘OI All In One Milk’ or ‘Momo Hair Potion’) before brushing your extensions.

Always brush the ends of your extensions first and slowly working your way to your scalp towards the bond area.

We recommend using an extension brush or a brush with flexible bristles.

Avoid brushing from the scalp first - this causes stress on the bonds and you risk pulling out an extension.

Treat extensions like it’s your natural hair - just try not to overthink it!

Just be sure to avoid the bonds with thermal tools.
Use heat/thermal protectant before any heat and thermal tools.

Never go to sleep with wet or damp hair.

Your hair is weakest when it’s wet.

When your hair is wet, your roots can become intertwined and will dry that way.
This over time will cause matting as your bonds will become tangled.

Ensure the bond area is dry, otherwise wet bonds causes the bonds to break down faster.

Extensions should be tied back while sleeping to prevent unnecessary pulling and tugging.

Loose braid or low bun is recommended.

A silk pillow case is also recommended.

Please, please, please avoid applying leave-in conditioner, hair spray and oiled-based products on the bonds. This will break down the bonds or cause the nano bead to slip.

It is crucial you attend your maintenance appointments. Going without can cause tangling and damage to your natural hair.
(We recommend anywhere between 6-8 weeks. Please speak with your Extensionist for the best maintenance routine for you as this varies from person to person)
